This was a jaw-dropper.  I don’t think I ever saw so much gold at one place in one time.  The concert hall was completely reconstructed after WWII.  It is supported by a volunteer group.

Some graffiti is really a political language, and some is used for personal fame.  Here this ancient door was brought into modern times, visually and abruptly.

I was stunned to see the majesty and grandness of this cathedral as part of the palace buildings: a testimony to the power of the king.

The sense of feeling small with walls rising beside you to great heights lent itself to acknowledge yourself in a spiritual place.

She was proud of her tattoo.  I was taken with her Bart Simpson T-shirt as well and her connection to American culture.

I think this child is amazed by the antics of this older boy.  Haven’t we all seen people accomplish things that set our standards to a new level?

The juxtaposition of man and nature in this view from my hotel room appealed to me.  It seemed that man and nature were at one in this serene image.

Thousand Island Lake houses hundreds of families who live in small homes on bits of land that populate this lake. I would have liked more time to see what that lifestyle was like.

This couple and their son worked on the Silkworm Farm in a lifetime commitment. The house they lived in used the bottom floor to process the silk while they used the upper floors for cooking and sleeping.

They posed for me in their bedroom with their wedding portrait behind them.

Their kitchen is unique to my experience. It somehow seemed easier because foods could remain warm for extended periods of time, then eaten when you were ready.

Here a mother and daughter pose in the doorway of their house which is under renovation (seen here).  Note the traditional dress of the mother and the modern dress of the daughter.  I was touched by the affection as they held hands while their picture was being taken.
