The absence of definition between sea and sky is amorphous.  This lion guards the harbor from the great unknown.  An illusion really.

The gargoyles here are represented by the baroque period.

This is the underground level of the abbey at St Gall.  No picture taking was allowed in the library.  Therefore, you see here a suggestion of what you might find above.

Although the arms are wide, this is not any clown anyone would be comfortable embracing.  He really looks like something scary that might pop out of an Alfred Hitchcock movie.  By taking this picture, I frame it, contain it and reign in my own uncomfortable feelings.

This picture contains morning mist and sunny clarity.  The calm daily ritual of setting the breakfast tables is an integral part of this picture.  Yet just beyond the daily reality, lies romantic mist.

Although is the National Library of Vienna, it felt just like a cathedral to me.  In fact, all libraries feel like cathedrals to me.

Although this looks like architecture (which it is), for me this was about the smallness of man compared to power of the Austrian Empire.
